Stack Overflow unveils connector for Microsoft 365 Copilot
Stack Overflow has announced the availability of a new connector for Microsoft Graph, enabling organisations to incorporate content from Stack Overflow for Teams into the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
The newly launched Stack Overflow connector allows developers to utilise content seamlessly within Microsoft 365 Copilot. It supports developers in asking technical questions and receiving summarised responses based on indexed content from Stack Overflow for Teams. This feature aims to facilitate quicker access to solutions, enhance the accuracy of developer tools, and reduce the need for context switching within workflows.
The connector is designed for both Stack Overflow for Teams Enterprise and Business tiers, providing options for customised configurations alongside default indexing of questions, answers, and top responses. By integrating with Microsoft Graph, third-party data from Stack Overflow for Teams can be pulled into Microsoft 365 applications, including the Copilot chat and Copilot Studio sections.
Developers using the Stack Overflow connector can ask questions in natural language directly within Microsoft 365 Copilot, receiving answers sourced from their organisation's Stack Overflow for Teams instance. Sources and links are included in the responses for deeper insight and context.
Prashanth Chandrasekar, CEO of Stack Overflow, commented, "We know that developers spend far too much time looking for answers - and once they find them, researching whether those answers are accurate and reliable. This Stack Overflow connector for Microsoft Graph ensures that developers remain in their flow state, not needing to leave and search for knowledge, ultimately increasing productivity and speeding up innovation as they can trust the answers from their trusted Stack Overflow for Teams." He further added, "This integration is yet another example of Stack Overflow's Knowledge-as-a-service vision becoming a reality - making trusted knowledge from Stack Overflow and / or Stack Overflow for Teams accessible wherever developers are in their workflow, including in GenAI tools, through an integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot."
The release of the Stack Overflow connector follows the debut of a Stack Overflow extension for GitHub Copilot, aligning with Stack Overflow's objective to enhance accessibility to trusted knowledge sources within development environments.
