Study shows Fastly boosts security with 235% ROI increase

Fastly has announced the results of a Total Economic Impact study conducted by Forrester Consulting, which found significant benefits for organisations using Fastly Application Security Solutions.

The study revealed that a composite organisation, representing the profiles of interviewed customers, experienced benefits of USD $6.04 million over three years, translating to a 235 per cent return on investment. The key advantages included enhanced security, improved user experiences, and substantial cost savings.

Critical findings of the study highlighted improvements in revenue and customer conversions. The composite organisation saw a USD $3.7 million profit increase alongside a 4 to 8 per cent rise in sales conversion rates within three years. Performance enhancements were noted in mitigating Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks and managing bot traffic, resulting in better site performance and user engagement. This is a pivotal outcome as businesses compete increasingly through digital platforms, where performance issues such as latency or outages can affect customer retention.

Furthermore, Fastly's solutions contributed to developer and operational productivity. The ease of deployment using Fastly's platform led to a threefold acceleration in software development time to value, yielding an additional USD $700,000 over three years. Full blocking mode could be achieved within two to three weeks after implementation, with the organisation citing a 25 per cent reduction in false positives compared to traditional Web Application Firewall products. Security incidents decreased by 30 per cent, enhancing overall resilience against cyber threats.

Insights from the study underscore the disadvantages of outdated security tools, which can impede growth and compromise financial outcomes by obstructing innovation and reducing performance.
