Adam Palmer has been named Norton Lead Cybersecurity Advisor who brings with him over ten years of experience in private industry and government service.

Palmer was formerly a cybercrime prosecutor and legal director for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). He will now lead the charge in spreading awareness about cybercrime.

“Adam Palmer is a proven leader in the fight against cybercriminals and a powerful addition to our team,” said Janice Chaffin, Group President of Symantec’s Consumer Business Unit. “Adam will work directly with our product teams, law enforcement and others in the industry to arm consumers with the truth about cybercrime and help make the internet a safer place.”  

Palmer joins Symantec from the .ORG Top Level Domain Registry, where the cybersecurity programme he introduced was named one of the major online security successes of 2009 by the Anti Phishing Working Group (APWG).

Last week, Craig Scroggie, Vice President and Managing Director, Symantec Pacific, told IT Brief that he "hopes" Symantec will play a part in the recently announced Australian data center strategy.
