Workato launches AI-driven platform to enhance business operations

Fri, 13th Sep 2024

Workato has announced the launch of its latest platform, Workato Agentic, aimed at transforming business operations through the use of AI agents.

The new offering is a low-code/no-code platform designed to allow businesses to build and manage purpose-specific AI agents with ease. The platform includes Workato Genie and pre-built Genie Apps like ITGenie and SalesGenie, targeting specific business needs.

The new solution addresses the limitations of existing point-to-point AI systems by offering a scalable platform with seamless integration and real-time context enrichment. Workato Agentic aims to enhance productivity and operational efficiency through its AI-driven orchestration capabilities.

"AI agents have been on our radar for a while due to their potential to transform the way we work. However, many of these only offered point solutions, addressing specific problems rather than providing a comprehensive platform," said Pranav Shahi, VP, Head of Business Technology at ServiceTitan. "With Workato Genie, we now have a platform that builds AI agents capable of not just knowledge deflection, but also action and process orchestration. This allows us to meet the needs of multiple business lines, starting with ITGenie for IT Helpdesk. It is truly transformational."

With Workato Genie, customers can build and manage AI agents that retrieve information, take action on applications and data, and orchestrate processes dynamically. The platform allows interaction through conversational interfaces such as Slack and Microsoft Teams or triggering events in applications like Salesforce, Workday, and Jira.

Workato Genie understands user intent, enriches it with context from various knowledge bases, and reasons to create an execution plan using Generative AI. The execution plan can range from simple actions on an application to complex end-to-end process orchestration. During the execution, Workato Genie can involve other AI agents or humans as needed, ensuring that human oversight is integral to every step.

Built on a foundation of security and governance, Workato Genie incorporates several key features:

  • Domain Expertise: Genies learn from knowledge bases and data sources to offer deep domain expertise.
  • Continuous Learning: AI agents continuously learn from user interactions and outcomes, with learnings applied only to the specific customer instance.
  • Real-Time Context Enrichment: AI understands user intent, enriches it with real-time context, and reasons the best course of action.
  • Reasoning: AI breaks down tasks and creates an execution plan based on user intent.
  • Security: Features patented technology for real-time user authentication and actions based on human approvals.
  • Responsibility: AI only performs tasks it is designed to do, and skill sets can be adjusted or updated as necessary.
  • Collaboration: AI collaborates with other Genies to execute processes dynamically end-to-end.

The platform also includes pre-built Genie Apps such as ITGenie, which reimagines IT helpdesk management with AI, and SalesGenie, designed to improve sales productivity from lead to close. These apps come pre-integrated with over 1,000 applications and data sources and can be customised to specific business needs.

Bhaskar Roy, Chief of AI Products & Solutions at Workato, stated, "In this era of AI, agentic solutions have only scratched the surface of what's possible with AI agents. With Workato Agentic, businesses can now rapidly build and manage AI agents with low-code/no-code to supercharge productivity and drive operational efficiency throughout their organisation."

According to the Capgemini Research Institute, 82% of organisations plan to integrate AI agents within the next one to three years. Workato aims to capitalise on this trend with its new platform, which seeks to offer a comprehensive, scalable solution to meet enterprise-wide needs.
