Zoom named Leader in Meeting Solutions Magic Quadrant
Tue, 17th Sep 2019
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Zoom Video Communications a provider of video-first unified communications has been named a Leader in the 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Meeting Solutions.

This is the fifth time Zoom has appeared in the Gartner Magic Quadrant and its fourth consecutive time as a Leader.

“Meeting solutions are collaboration tools that support interactions between participants for daily teamwork, presentations, training and webinars,” the report says.

“Enterprise offerings in this market perform equally well for users in meeting spaces, at their desks or when mobile, with integrated voice, video, messaging and content sharing. Organisations with complex needs typically use separate meeting solutions for informal collaboration (among users within the same team or project) and for more formal meeting scenarios (external presentations, learning/training scenarios and large-scale webinars). This often causes an organisation to deploy solutions from more than one vendor.

The criteria used by Gartner to evaluate companies selected for the Magic Quadrant include completeness of vision and ability to execute.

This report examined 16 vendors across a range of criteria and positioned Zoom as a Leader.

"We are very happy to receive this recognition from Gartner and to be placed in the Leaders quadrant again," says Zoom founder and CEO Eric S. Yuan.

"Millions of happy users know that Zoom is the leader in meeting solutions and unified communications. This is evident in our industry-leading NPS score over 70, strong year-over-year enterprise customer growth, and over 200 features and enhancements released each year. We will continue to work hard to first and foremost deliver happiness to our customers. We are gratified that Gartner has recognised our completeness of vision and ability to execute."

The report describes Zoom's strengths, including a “wide array of deployment options, including freemium,” “rich meeting solution feature set, expanding partner community, and integration with services such as Slack and RingCentral,” and “Service reliability and the pace of innovation and improvements.

For cautions, it warns that Zoom's channel selling processes “can sometimes lead to sales channel conflicts, which can confuse IT buyers or lengthen negotiations unnecessarily.

It also notes Zoom's habit of bundling solutions for no cost, but then charging for them on renewal, and that there are still applications and external meeting solution it cannot integrate with.

Zoom has also been recognised by its customers on Gartner Peer Insights in the Meeting Solutions market.

As of September 9, 2019, Zoom Meetings has an overall rating of 4.6/5 stars based on 3077 reviews. Zoom Meetings also has the highest overall rating in this category among vendors with more than 15 reviews.
