Gallagher Security names Josh Arnold Chief Product Lead
Gallagher Security has appointed Josh Arnold as Chief Product Officer, putting an experienced product and engineering leader in charge of the company's devices, platforms and services.
Arnold brings more than 15 years' product and technology leadership experience across New Zealand, Europe and the US. He joins the New Zealand-headquartered security technology company as suppliers and customers reassess product roadmaps amid rapid change in software, data and automation.
In the role, Arnold will lead the teams that design, develop and deliver Gallagher Security's portfolio, spanning physical devices as well as the platforms and services that support them.
Chief Executive Mark Junge said the appointment reflects broader shifts in the security market and rising customer expectations.
"I'm delighted to welcome Josh to Gallagher as Chief Product Officer. With a wealth of international experience and a passion for both product leadership and engineering, Josh brings a unique perspective to Gallagher," Junge said.
He added that the sector is going through a period of rapid transformation.
"Security is undergoing one of the most transformative periods in its history, driven by rapid advances and customer expectations," Junge said.
Product remit
The Chief Product Officer role has become more prominent among technology suppliers as companies seek closer alignment between engineering investment, commercial priorities and customer needs. In security technology, vendors are also responding to demand for systems that connect across sites and integrate with broader IT environments.
Gallagher Security positions itself as a manufacturer and developer that keeps key stages of product creation in New Zealand, including design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, distribution and support.
Arnold highlighted that end-to-end control of development and manufacturing as a point of difference.
"Gallagher is the only true beginning to end security technology company I've ever encountered," Arnold said.
"We design, engineer, manufacture, test, distribute and support every one of our security products right here in New Zealand. You can walk the floor at our Head Office and see devices coming off the line," he said.
AI expectations
Arnold said market change has increased the strategic importance of product leadership. He also pointed to the growing influence of AI in software and systems planning.
"In an AI-capable world, the lines between product and technology have dissolved. Customers expect systems that are intelligent, secure, intuitive, and constantly evolving. Helping Gallagher meet and exceed those expectations is an incredible opportunity," he said.
Junge said Arnold's background combines customer insight with engineering and commercial experience, reinforcing Gallagher's focus on secure products and global markets from its New Zealand base.
"Josh brings the experience, commercial focus, and product leadership needed to ensure Gallagher leads these changes. His appointment strengthens our commitment to developing secure, innovative, and globally trusted solutions manufactured in New Zealand," Junge said.
Arnold said Gallagher's culture and approach to engineering and product development influenced his decision to join.
"What attracted me most to Gallagher was its culture. There's a deep pride in building exceptional products and a genuine belief in solving meaningful problems for customers around the world," he said.
He said the move comes at a pivotal point for both the company and his career, as exports and New Zealand's role in the global technology supply chain remain in focus.
"In many ways, Gallagher embodies classic Kiwi ingenuity - practical, inventive, and confident - that has helped New Zealand compete so successfully on the global stage. For 87 years, Gallagher has exported world-class innovation to customers around the world. I'm excited to help shape the next chapter of that story," Arnold said.
